Committing to the ERP Cloud Part 3: Secure Accounting
In this week’s installment, we are going to cover a topic that is brought up quite a bit and that I touched on slightly in last week’s blog, which you can find here. Most people wonder about the security of the cloud. I ask, what about the security of your current system?
How many people have access to your legacy ERP system? Passwords can also be a messy area. Do you know who has the passwords, how new ones are created, and what passwords are needed to access different systems? When a user moves out of the company how are they deleted? Do you trust the people that can make it through your firewall? Do you even know who those people are? Now that you are scrambling to think of the answers to all these questions lets go over cloud security.
With a cloud ERP system, you know when someone accesses data and exactly who is accessing it. Cloud providers also have entire teams dedicated to the security of your system. They run strict penetration tests to make sure nothing can get through the barriers they have set up. When you don’t have to worry about the security of your system you can spend time thinking about what matters most, moving your business forward.
In the end, your business is probably not focused on security which can put the actual security of your systems in jeopardy. When a company that’s sole purpose is keeping your financials safe and up to date why would you not trust them? Think about investing in the cloud like this, “I’m automating my systems and securing them”. Once the fears are lifted moving forward becomes that much easier.
